All Saints Parent Teacher Association

Regular Events

Every activity organised by the PTA has the sole purpose of raising much needed extra funds forClifton All Saints Academy. We aim to make each event as much fun as possible for children and adults attending the events. Some events are for the whole family and others are just for children or adults only.

The money we raise is spent on equipment for the school. We have recently purchased a new bike stand and visualiser for the school. A large chunk of the money raised goes towards coach travel and school trips for the children.

We try to organise a variety of events and are always looking for new ideas to raise money. So please do get in touch with a PTA member (see PTA member profiles page) if you have a great idea for a fund raising event. We would love to hear from you.

AGM (Annual General Meeting)

September

The PTA is a charitable organisation and is required to hold an AGM once a year. The purpose of the AGM is to report on activities, events, funds raised and what the money has been spent on throughout the past year. It is also the forum where we elect our executive board. Currently the executive board consists of a Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary and Minutes Secretary. We encourage all teaching staff and parents to come along and see how the money raised is spent and we also share a few glasses of wine to celebrate.

Autumn Fayre

This one of our main fundraisers of the year and can raise on average £1,100. It is a joint endeavour organised by All Saint’s church and the PTA and all funds are shared between the church and the PTA. It usually takes place the last weekend of November.

Organisation of the fayre starts in September straight after the AGM. The children can go and see Father Christmas in his Grotto. Other popular children’s’ activities are face painting and the Make-it room, where they can get creative making different craft items. There is a Tombola, raffle draw and PTA run stalls such as the jam jar and wine game. Local sellers of a variety of products and services attend, some with a “Christmas” theme. Shefford Town Band play Christmas carols and other music inside the main hall, giving the fayre a nice festive feel. Tea, coffee and cakes are also available to buy. We are always in need of good face painters so please get in touch this is one of your skills.

Mother’s Day gift sale

This is a popular and fun event for the children and is a more recent addition to our regular events. It raises around £60-£80. It is for the children only and is run during school hours the week before Mother’s Day. There is a selection of products on offer for the children to buy “in secret” for their mothers, grandmothers or other female family members. Each item is currently priced at £3 and is put in a bag for the child to take home. No peeking in those bags mum!!

School disco - Easter

This is for the children only. This event has never been about raising money, it’s a fun event just for the children. It is usually planned for a Friday evening and runs for 1.5 hours. Robins children must be accompanied by an adult. Refreshments are provided (juice and cakes) and a small gift is given to the children to take home.

Summer fayre

This is the main fund raising event of the year and can raise around £2,000. The fayre begins straight after the traditional maypole dancing organised by the school. The fayre is organised solely by the PTA and is a family afternoon with a range of activities for both adults and children. Most stalls and activities are on the school playing field. There is a BBQ, beer tent and a local restaurant selling food. There are demonstrations given by local clubs such as Karate, majorettes and dance studios as well as others. An entertainer and fairground rides keep the children amused while adults can go and browse some of the products on offer from local suppliers. There are PTA run stalls such as hook a duck, jam jars and the wine game. This is a weather dependent event and we must also plan to have some of the activities indoors in case our infamous British weather lets us down, although this doesn’t happen very often.

Summer camp out

This is truly a family social evening, a very recent and popular addition to our regular events. Previous camp-outs have raised around £500. It is held on a large plot of land owned by a local homeowner. The evening kicks off with a BBQ and families pitch their tents. There is a zip wire and other play equipment to entertain the kids, but families bring their own entertainment – footballs and other ball games. Breakfast is served the following morning (usually bacon rolls) and everyone leaves by 10am with matchsticks for their eyes!!

Cake and book sales

once every half term on a Friday (raised £180 so far this year)

If you are faint of heart don’t go in there – it’s noisy and it’s 4 people deep to get to the tables, but the kids love them. The cakes and books are donated by the parents of 2/3 classes each time. The books have been a recent addition and proved popular with the children. These sales raise around £120 each time. Yum.

Quiz nights

Once, possibly twice a year in April/May or October (raised £217 in 2011)

Our quiz evenings are very popular with parents and Clifton residents and are held in the school hall. The more recent ones have been themed (smell quiz, music quiz and 80’s quiz) and have raised more money – around £200-£350. It is usually bring your own drinks and nibbles with an interval. It can get quite noisy towards the end of the evening and we do ask that tables are cleared away and all rubbish is taken home at the end of the evening .
